Acoustic Shockwave Therapy For Erectile Dysfunction

Acoustic Shockwave Therapy For Erectile Dysfunction

Shockwave therapy is also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) or Radial Shockwave Therapy (RSWT).

Acoustic Wave® therapy is a series of simple in-office procedures that are non-invasive, drug-free, and surgery-free.

As a certified Acoustic Wave® provider we will review your symptoms and recommend the best treatment options for you.

  • Acoustic Wave® treatments take between 15 to 20 minutes
  • No downtime and little to no side effects
  • The benefits of Acoustic Wave® can last up to 2 years (NCBI).

Medical causes of ED

There are many physical causes of ED. Any one of these can disrupt the sequence of physiological changes that produces an erection:

The hormone testosterone affects a person’s sex drive and energy levels, which govern arousal impulses to the brain.

Diabetes can also damage the nerves that signal increased blood flow to the genital area.

According to the American Diabetes Association, a man with type 2 diabetes is twice as likely to have low testosterone compared to a man that doesn’t have diabetes.

Your doctor can test for nerve damage related to diabetes and low testosterone. Also, any constriction of blood flow from heart disease and artery blockages would hamper an erection.

Other causes of ED

ED isn’t necessarily related to age or chronic illnesses.

Other common causes include:

  • heavy alcohol consumption
  • tobacco use
  • prescription medications
  • anxiety
  • depression

Alcohol slows nerve communications within the brain and throughout the body, which can affect arousal signals and physical coordination.

Tobacco not only restricts blood flow, but can lead to serious diseases that may further impair sexual function.

Medications can also affect people differently. A drug that decreases sexual performance in one person might not in another.

Common types of drugs that may lead to sexual dysfunctions include:

Psychological and emotional stressors can also inhibit sexual arousal.

Plus, not having or sustaining an erection — even once, for any reason — can spiral into greater anxiety and perhaps doubts about your sexual abilities and self-esteem.

Shock wave therapy treatment consists of noninvasive low-intensity sound waves that pass through erectile tissue, restoring natural erectile function by clearing plaque out of blood vessels and encouraging the growth of new blood vessels. The shockwave treatment offers a cure in that it reverses the problems that cause the dysfunction in the first place — the most desired win-win outcome coveted by men with ED.

Low-intensity extracorporeal shock wave therapy is a safe treatment for men with erectile dysfunction and might work to improve, or even cure, ED in some patients.

Using targeted high-energy sound waves, LiSWT can speed up tissue repair and cell growth. Erections rely on healthy blood flow to the penile tissue. Shockwave therapy is viewed favorably as a way of repairing and strengthening blood vessels in the penis and improving blood flow.
