Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy
Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) is used to treat both men and women experiencing imbalances or drops in their naturally-occurring hormones. Hormones are responsible for most of your essential bodily functions, so when they are disrupted in any way, cascade effects across all your systems can ensue.
Symptoms that are common with menopause such as hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, memory loss, weight gain, sleep issues, and low libido can be dramatically improved with BHRT. For many other conditions, BHRT can improve vitality, energy, mental clarity, mood, weight loss, and even muscle strength!
BHRT comes in several different forms, and at Winter Park Family Physicians, we carefully take into consideration your symptoms, medical conditions, and history before making a recommendation for a specific treatment.
One of your most vital vital-organs is your heart. Without it, the oxygen brought in by your lungs would not be carried to other organs, like your brain. Your body would have a challenging time fighting off infections and viruses because your blood is also responsible for delivering white blood cells where they are needed. Under our compassionate and thorough care, you can rest easy knowing we take every step we can to help you stay as healthy as possible. If you would like to improve your cardiovascular health, call our office at (407) 647-2550 or book an appointment online.
What Is Cardiovascular Health?
Cardiovascular health is the health of your heart and blood vessels. The prefix, cardio-, refers to the heart, while -vascular refers to the blood vessels. Together, these two make up your circulatory system, which is responsible for pumping and moving blood and oxygen throughout your entire body.
A clinical diagnosis of depression covers a rather wide range of mood disorders that can vary in how they manifest and affect the patient. If you have been diagnosed with depression, or if you are struggling with symptoms of depression, Winter Park Family Physicians is here to help. Our compassionate staff understands that living with depression can be exhausting, and we want to not only treat the symptoms but help you, as a person, feel your best.
Depending on the type of depression and the cause, there are numerous treatment options we can explore to determine the one that will work best for you. Every person is unique and what works for one patient may not work for another, so we always consider the whole person before deciding how best to help you.
Diabetes is a common health concern that can alter a patient’s lifestyle and quality of life.
Here at Winter Park Family Physicians, we specialize in treating patients with diabetes and helping them manage their condition to best experience a happy and healthy life. Whether you are experiencing chronic fatigue, frequent urination, or suspect you may have nerve damage, we are here to help.
We provide diagnostic testing and various treatment options to help our patients manage their blood sugar levels.
In today’s modern society, we are so easily exposed to so many different pollutants, and this exposure makes living a healthy lifestyle especially tricky. A healthy body requires constant maintenance and clean fuel in the tank to perform at its best.
Functional medicine focuses on the most current scientific research regarding how your genetics, environment and lifestyle interact in order to diagnose and treat conditions. It is an evolution of medicine that better addresses the healthcare needs of the 21st century. The goal is a shift in thinking, where we go from treating the disease (disease-centered) to treating the person who has the disease (patient-centered).
Functional medicine addresses the whole person and not just an isolated list of symptoms. Symptom suppression is only used as a temporary fix while seeking the root cause of the symptoms ensures optimal health for the patient. Functional medicine practitioners spend time with their patients, listen to their health history, and examine the interactions between genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. These contribute to long term health issues and complex, chronic diseases. In this way, functional medicine supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.
Hair loss can be the result of several underlying conditions, stress, or improper hair care. Many patients request an appointment once they notice that their hair is thinning or falling out, but sometimes, hair loss is not apparent.
Here at Winter Park Family Physicians, we use platelet-rich plasma therapy to help with hair restoration. Platelet-rich plasma therapy is a 100% natural way to harness your body’s own innovative powers. In just 20 minutes, this treatment can help treat thinning hair and can help restore your confidence.
High Blood Pressure
High blood pressure can be a dangerous condition as those who have it typically do not display symptoms. While those with high blood pressure may not experience any pain or discomfort, their condition could still be life-threatening.
Here at Winter Park Family Physicians, we are proud to provide services to best identify and address this issue in our patients. We can help you make the necessary lifestyle changes and prescribe medication to aid in the management of your condition and prevent stroke, heart attack, or other health complications.
Whether you have high cholesterol due to heredity or poor lifestyle habits, having routine cholesterol checks is important. Not only does this help to establish a healthy lifestyle, but also to help prevent other health complications such as a stroke or heart attack.
Here at Winter Park Family Physicians, we are here to help you maintain your cardiovascular health through routine examinations and blood testing. We will work with you to help establish healthy lifestyle and eating habits so that you can have a healthy heart and a healthy life.
Home Sleep Test
For those with symptoms of sleep apnea, a home sleep test may be necessary to determine if that is indeed your diagnosis. While wearing a simple breathing monitor, it will track your breathing, oxygen levels, and breathing effort. This test is not to be confused with an overnight sleep study attended by a sleep technologist in a lab. Home sleep tests are simplified and capture only basic information about your breathing and are a good place for us to start when identifying the severity of your symptoms.
Home sleep tests sensors include a probe that goes over your finger to measure your oxygen levels, a mask with small tubes that go into your nostrils (similar to a nasal cannula oxygen mask), and additional sensors placed on your chest and abdomen to measure the rise and fall of your breathing. Because the test is conducted in the comfort of your own home, it is likely to be more accurate in terms of capturing your natural breathing patterns during sleep since you’ll be in your own bed and a familiar environment. Once the test is complete, we will review the results and make a diagnosis, if possible, or prescribe further sleep testing in a lab setting.
Do you have difficulty falling asleep, staying asleep, returning to sleep, or a combination thereof? If so, you may be experiencing insomnia, which is the most common sleep disorder in the United States. As many as 40 million Americans suffer from it every year. Although it can affect men and women and children of all ages, it tends to be more prevalent in women and older adults.
Acute insomnia occurs suddenly and briefly, lasting from one night to a few weeks, and is often due to a particular circumstance, such as an upcoming important or stressful event.
Chronic insomnia, on the other hand, is when you have sleep trouble falling, staying, or returning to sleep at least three nights per week for at least three months straight.
Additionally, there are two types of insomnia: primary, which means it isn’t linked to any other health condition, and secondary, in which the insomnia is a result of another condition such as asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, heartburn, pain, medication, or substance use.
Integrative and Anti-Aging Medicine
Integrative medicine is healing-oriented and focuses on the person as a whole. At Winter Park Family Physicians, we strive to include the many aspects of your life and goals in order to find the best approach to improving your overall health.
Anti-aging medicine aims to slow the signs and conditions related to aging. Aging is inevitable, but helping you age well is our goal. We believe that through preventative screenings, early disease detection, optimal nutrition, and prompt intervention when necessary, we can help you achieve maximum health and longevity. Anti-aging medicine, in conjunction with integrative medicine, slows down biological factors on the molecular and cellular levels that contribute to disease.
At Winter Park Family Physicians, we provide comprehensive men’s health services while making you feel at ease and comfortable with your body and any health concerns you may have.
What are the biggest concerns regarding men’s health?
As a group, men tend to avoid discussing their health or any concerns they have with anyone, including their doctors. However, putting off physical exams and preventive screens can allow underlying conditions to progress if left untreated. As men age, there are several common conditions that men are at higher risk of developing and they include:
- Colon cancer
- Heart disease
- Hypertension (high blood pressure)
- Liver disease
- Low testosterone disorders
- Prostate cancer
Though some conditions increase risk with age, it is important to receive regular medical care regardless of how old you are.
Microbiome Support (Gut Health)
The microbiome is a collective term for the trillions of bacteria, viruses, and fungi found throughout our bodies. While some of these are responsible for disease, many more are vital to the proper functionality of the brain, immune system, heart, weight, digestion, and more. A large portion of these exist in our intestines, specifically in a “pocket” in the large intestine called the cecum. This “pocket” is referred to as the gut microbiome and includes over 2,000 different species of bacteria alone.
Many are surprised to know that the human body is made up of approximately 40 trillion bacterial cells, but only 30 trillion human cells! These 40 trillion bacteria weigh as much as your brain (2-5 pounds) and essentially function as an extra organ of the body by aiding in numerous bodily functions. Your gut microbiome is an integral part of your health, and without it, it would be difficult to survive.
Migraines are a recurring kind of headache, usually affecting one side of the head and characterized by their severity. They often have unique symptoms like sensitivity to light and sound, nausea, weakness, and visual anomalies like arcs of light. These symptoms are usually exacerbated by movement, and many find some relief by laying in a dark, quiet room until the migraine subsides. Afterward, during a period called the “postdrome,” you may feel exhausted, weak, and even confused for up to a day.
There are 4 main factors that contribute to the onset of a migraine: Hormonal, Nutritional, Musculoskeletal and Neurological. These 4 factors encompass several known triggers that can vary widely from one person to another.
Natural Thyroid Management
The thyroid is a small, butterfly-shaped gland located at the base of your neck below the cartilage known as Adam’s apple. As part of the endocrine system, the thyroid produces two main hormones: thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These two hormones influence every single cell in your body. From how your body metabolizes fats and carbohydrates, to temperature regulation and heart rate, to the production of protein – thyroid hormones are center stage.
Two primary problems can occur with your thyroid – overproduction of thyroid hormones called hyperthyroidism, including Graves’ disease; and, underproduction of thyroid hormones called hypothyroidism, including Hashimoto’s disease. In most cases, thyroid problems can be well-managed when properly diagnosed and treated.
The O-Shot®, also known as the Orgasm Shot®, utilizes blood-derived factors to help rejuvenate the vagina, helping women with urinary incontinence and sexual performance issues. Here at Winter Park Family Physicians, we are proud to provide this option to our female clients.
O-Shot® is a great treatment option for women experiencing decreased sex drive, urinary incontinence, vaginal dryness, chronic vaginal pain (from childbirth or mesh), or chronic interstitial cystitis. During treatment, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is injected into the clitoris, labia, and G-spot to promote healing of damaged tissue and growth of new blood vessels and nerves.
Results will vary from patient to patient, but many experience an ease in urinary incontinence, increased sexual desire and arousal, increased vaginal lubrication, heightened orgasm, and relief from chronic pain associated with childbirth mesh, and interstitial cystitis. The O-Shot® has also been used to treat lichen sclerosus and lichen planus.
Please contact us at (407) 647-2550 for more information or to make an appointment.
The P-Shot®, also known as the Priapus Shot®, is known for utilizing blood-derived factors to rejuvenate the penis. Here at Winter Park Family Physicians, we are proud to offer these services to our male clients.
P-Shot® is an excellent option for men who have lost function due to health complications such as prostate cancer, diabetes, or other conditions that impact sexual performance and function. The treatment lasts only about 15 minutes and uses platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from a sample of the patient’s blood to help promote the growth of new cells and rejuvenate damaged tissue.
Results will vary from patient to patient, but most experience firmer, longer-lasting erections, increased sensitivity during sexual activity, and an increase in the length and girth of the penis.
P-Long® is the first and only clinically proven protocol to naturally increase the size of your manhood without surgery, cosmetic fillers, or negative side effects.
P-Long® was created so that men could increase the size and function of their manhood without expensive surgeries, which often result in dangerous side effects and unwanted results.
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
Winter Park Family Physicians is proud to offer platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to our patients. PRP has continued to grow as a reliable way to effectively treat sexual dysfunction, and even has aesthetic applications such as improving overall skin and hair health.
How does it work?
Our blood predominantly consists of plasma, which carries red and white blood cells and platelets. PRP is created by drawing some of the patient’s own blood and then using a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets within a sample of the plasma. This concentrated sample of platelets is then combined with the original blood sample. We can then inject this platelet-rich blood into the treatment area. While results may not occur immediately, many women experience improved sensitivity, functionality, and muscle tone while improving the performance of sexual function and bladder control.
Preventative Care Services
Here at Winter Park Family Physicians we believe in the importance of preventative care and having routine screenings to maintain your overall good health. Early detection can be the key to treating women’s cancers and increasing the chances of a full recovery. Our practice offers various cancer screening options so that you can ensure your optimal health.
Breast Cancer Screenings
Clinical breast exams are conducted during each exam to search for any changes in your breasts or unusual lumps. We will ask about your family history and if any members have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Annual mammograms begin at the recommended age of 40.
It is important that you conduct self-breast exams at home so that you can notice any changes in your breast between visits.
Cervical Cancer Screenings
Pap smears are important for finding any changes in your cervical cells. These tests begin at the age of 21. The HPV test can also be conducted at this time since the HPV virus can lead to cervical cancer. Even if you have been vaccinated against HPV, it is still important that you follow the screening recommendations for your age group.
Colorectal Cancer Screenings
The screening for colon cancer typically begins at the age of 45, unless otherwise recommended by your doctor. This is accomplished by analyzing a stool sample or by examining the colon and rectum (colonoscopy).
Endometrial Cancer Screenings
During menopause, women should report any unexpected vaginal changes such as bleeding or spotting. There are many causes of postmenopausal bleeding that can be benign such as uterine polyps or fibroids. However, uterine cancer, or endometrial cancer, can also cause abnormal changes during menopause. If you notice any changes, please report them to your doctor so that a biopsy can be conducted to determine whether there is a concern for cancer.
What is primary care?

When do I need primary care services?

In addition to physicals, we also offer regular women’s and men’s preventative health screenings and exams. Preventive care is important to keeping you healthy and lowering your risk for potential infections and diseases.

We are proud to offer urgent care services here in our office, so you can save yourself the hassle and frustration of visiting the emergency room. With same-day appointments, on-site testing, and comprehensive diagnosis and treatment, we are your one-stop shop when you need us most.
At Winter Park Family Physicians, we are pleased to offer services for vampire facials. This popular treatment uses Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), which is a 100% natural way to harness your body’s own regenerative powers. Essentially, by using your own blood, we can help promote the growth of new, healthy skin cells.
When you arrive at our office, a few vials of blood will be drawn and then spun in a centrifuge, allowing the blood to separate into different components. The PRP is then combined with dermal fillers and strategically injected into areas of your face that aid in reducing wrinkles, adding volume, and improving overall skin quality.
The treatment is ideal for those who desire healthy, rejuvenated skin without having to undergo lengthy treatments or surgery. It is an outpatient procedure without incisions, and results can be experienced on the same day with benefits that can last up to six months or more.
Weight loss is something with which millions of people struggle. As you know, your weight doesn’t just contribute to your physical appearance. Your weight and the amount of fat in your body can help or hurt your body by contributing to either a healthy physique or lead to medical issues such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. Weight loss is not just about restricting calories, which is what most people try to do. Weight loss is really about correcting your nutrition, managing your stress, and for some, working with or around chronic diseases and medical conditions.
